Together with Global Woods, a Danish forestry investment company, it developed a “Company Driven Rural Development” Business Model focusing on sustainable forestry in the Kikonda forest plantation in Uganda. The design of this model relied heavily on the strong evidence-base available, using an in-depth baseline study conducted in the area a few months prior to the project design.
The model focused on ensuring that the project would be catalytic in building a strong foundation for a long term sustainable approach balancing commercial interests, environmental protection and community outreach. The project recently received Danida co-financing as part of the Danida Business Partnerships (DBP).
