On June 16, CSI+ Plus was invited by Danida Uganda to make a presentation on “Strategic CSR as a component of doing profitable business” at a business partner match-making event between 14 Danish companies and over 60 Ugandan companies in the agribusiness, service and tourism sectors. For the most part, the nature of Ugandan CSR has been giving back, normally in terms of cash donations.
After our presentation, to our pleasure, it was Ugandan SMEs that approached us, with a keen interest in streamlining or designing CSR approaches for sustainability of both the business and the communities. The most common response was - whether a partnership with a Danish company happens or does not happen, we now understand that CSR is good for our businesses and we want to incorporate it, however small our businesses may be.
