AfDB High Level Panel on Fragile States

AfDB High Level Panel on Fragile States

The African Development Bank has formed a special high-level panel to guide an expansion of its work in fragile states. It is chaired by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia. CSI+ provides strategic communications and media guidance to the panel’s secretariat and helped organize its recent launch event in Monrovia with ministers of finance and planning from across Africa, international partners, and civil society.

In establishing the panel, Dr. Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank, said, “With the help of President Ellen Johson Sirleaf and a group of experts, we are crafting a new approach to help such countries to recover much faster and to minimize the impact on the neighborhood.”

CSR-in-Action is partnering with CSI+ to deliver a Sustainable Banking Principles workshop to Bank representatives in Lagos, Nigeria in July. All Banks that have signed up to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) initiative are invited to the workshop intended to boost implementation. The workshop is sponsored by GTBank and Moorhouse Hotel.

Our partner for football for development, Grassrootsoccer, took part of President Obama’s Town Hall meeting for Young African Leaders in Johannesburg during his recent Africa trip. The invitation extended to GRS is a well-deserved recognition of the excellent work of GRS carried out across the continent including in Nigeria, where they support our NGO, YEDI
